No Side Effects?!

1 in 3 American adults has high cholesterol.

People with high total cholesterol may have a significantly greater risk of developing heart disease than people with optimal levels.

10% reduction in LDL (“bad”) cholesterol equates to an approximately 20% decrease in heart disease risk.

The American Heart Association (AHA) recommends consuming no more than 300 mg of cholesterol a day; those with heart disease should consume less than 200 mg of cholesterol.
According to the AHA, eating one egg for breakfast, drinking two cups of coffee with 1 tablespoon of half-and-half each, lunching on 4 ounces of lean skinless turkey breast with one tablespoon of mayonnaise, and eating a 6-ounce serving of broiled short loin porterhouse steak for dinner yields 510 mg of dietary cholesterol. That’s nearly twice the recommended daily amount!

The NIH recommends that people with elevated cholesterol consume 2 grams of plant stanols and sterols a day because over 80 clinical studies have proven that they work. Two grams a day of stanols and sterols is sufficient to lower cholesterol (the bad kind) by 9 to 13%.

And many other clinical studies have shown that lowering LDL cholesterol by that much will lower your risk of a heart attack by 18-26%.

Men tend to have higher cholesterol than women. However, after menopause, cholesterol levels in women increase due to a decline in estrogen production.

Plant sterols and stanols are ingested into the body from food or supplements.Because they are structurally similar to cholesterol, sterols and stanols compete with cholesterol for absorption into the body.
